Coming home

After climbing a volcano in Bali, the highest mountain in Thailand and numerous waterfalls, and visiting EVERY market in Chiang Mai we need a holiday. So kids get the house cleaned up we're coming home 2nd April (hopefully) staying for 2 weeks then back to Thailand.

Another Train Journey from Hell

We left our hotel at 3pm Friday. The train left on time at 4.30pm. Had dinner and a few drinks and went to bed. At 3.40am we were woken up and told we had to get off the train. There had been a crash further up the line and we had to continue by bus. It was a local bus with no air-con, full of exhaust fumes. Lovely. After about an hour we arrived at another train station and caught another train. Sleep over. Arrived in Bangkok 2pm Saturday. Caught the next train to Cha-am 3.30pm. Arrived in Cha-am 8pm. As we traveled 3rd class our carriage didn't reach the platform. Everyone behind us was telling us to jump, about 4 feet onto the railway line. Had to walk up the track to the platform, thats what you get for not paying for 2nd class. Finally arrived home after 29.50 hours traveling, so our flight to UK should be a doddle.

Bizarre fruit

How strange, its called a Mickey Mouse tomato. It is real, I made the waiter pick one and show me the inside. I don't know whether they are edible.

Back in Cha-am

Chiang Mai was great. We went up the highest mountain in Thailand. After leaving Cha-am in 38 degs the mountain was 16 degs. We were all in shorts and T-shirts, we were freezing. Good food but again unlucky with the toilet in the restaurant. The actual toilet was clean it was a shame about the flush.

Chiang Mai

Going to Chiang Mai today on the overnight train. All our valuables are under lock and key. NOBODY is going to steal my tonic water. Back in a week.

There is a God

We went to the new Macro shop today. And OMG look what I found. We bought so much we had to get a taxi home. But we did get enough tonic for the weekend.

A Place To Avoid

If you ever find yourselves in Bali avoid the ANEKA BEACH HOTEL, Kuta.
Named and shamed.

Kuta Beach

I read on the internet that after the 'Bali Bombings' the Australians stopped going there. Not so, it was like being on the set of Neighbours. The best thing for me was the muscular surfers. It makes a change from flabby farang in their Speedos.
Do you like Daves skirt!!! Fetching don't you think.

Bali

Just got back from Bali. It was a four hour flight, and 5 hours to get from the airport to the bus station on the other side of Bangkok.

Outside

Glad he is on the outside of the window.
