Crossing to nowhere?

Not to be used by Muggles.

A picture for Fran

Its a bit blurred as I was a little shakey. I don't think its the same one but they all look the same to me.

FOOTBALL

I watched my first ever football match last night, England versus Solvenia. The commentary was fantastic. All in Thai, nobody was getting overly excited. They also didn't get names or numbers correct. Priceless.

Where are the other 000 people.

Well yesterday Sunday, we went to the Jazz Festival at Hua Hin. It lasted for 3 days and Sunday was the last day. Last year it was reported that over 35,000 people attended over the 3 day period. My guess is that it must have been pretty busy Friday and Saturday. As you can see from the photo there were more people on the stage than in the audience. Quiet entertaining but we didn't stay long. Sitting on a sandy beach for hours on end, I don't think Europeans are built to do that. Very painful.

Leaving Thailand

Well we have nearly done our first 90 days so its time to leave Thailand and get our visas renewed. We have booked a sleeper train down to Butterworth, Malaysia. From there we will spend 3 nights on Penang Island. Can't wait, its been a long time since we were there. Train only costs £20.00 per person each way. I'll let you know.

Only get better I said!!!!!!!

Just had a power cut, no electricity no fans or aircon, no waterpump no water, no water no toilets. Its now 11.20 and we are going back to bed and not getting up until tomorrow. HOPEFULLY Sunday will be better.

A Close Encounter

Well at 7.30 this morning I came downstairs to make some tea. I went and opened the fly screen and the main door. To my horror a "F**k you" lizard jumped from the fly screen onto my arm. There I stood eyeball to eyeball with a 12" lizard. OMG what do I do, SCREAM as loud as I could. It jumped off onto the settee then onto the floor where it hid in the corner. I ran into the opposite corner where I only stopped running in circles to jump up and down a bit. Terrifiying. Dave came down and barricaded it in. All the time the lizard was screaming "F**k you". All the time I was screaming in the other corner. Dave had a broom and an empty box of red wine which he was trying to get it into the box. Success into the box and out the door. Now I know what I have to do, drink more red wine so we have another empty box. What a morning but it can only get better. Hopefully.

Bangkok

Had a day in Bangkok yesterday, we went to a Tourism exhibition. We bought 4 days 3 nights in a deluxe hotel for £100.00 on Koh Chang. Bangkok was normal ie hot sweaty and smelly, but no violence. As you can see by the pictures we came across 2 burnt out shopping malls. But we both agreed it was not really pure vandalism, but someone had had a bad burger, pizza or uncooked chicken maybe.

NEVER ASK THE TIME IN THAILAND

You will never get the correct time over here. Apparently their days are divided up into 4. From 12 midnight to 6am is night. From 6am to 12 noon is morning. From 12 to 6pm is daytime and from 6pm to 12 midnight is evening. With me so far. So if they tell you its 2 in the evening that means its 8pm, if they say 3 in the morning that means its 9am. Well we just got our heads around this when Jonny says "don't worry too much about it because in Hua Hin (the next town to us about 20 minutes away) they tell the time completely different". So we gave up and bought ourselves watches.

What's this ugly 'sam sorn' poking its nose through the hole in our wall?

New House?

We went to look at our next house to buy in Cha-am. It needs quiet a bit doing to it but shouldn't be a problem. Right on the beach, plenty of rooms for visitors (all with bathrooms). As you can see the garden is big enough to have a swimming pool. Loads of parties. All we need to do is pursuade the King to sell it to us, as it used to be his Summer Palace.
